Passage

Section 10 of the Indian Contract Act, 1872 provides that all agreements are contracts if made by the free consent of parties competent to contract. Section 11 further states that a minor, being a person who has not attained the age of 18, is not competent to contract. Any agreement with a minor is void ab initio — it has no legal effect from the beginning and cannot be enforced by either party.

Priya, aged 16, visits an electronics store and purchases a laptop from Ravi for ₹50,000. She pays the full amount. Ravi later discovers that Priya is a minor.

AI EXAMINER (VOICE)

"Based on the passage, what is the status of the agreement between Priya and Ravi? Is it (A) voidable at Priya's option, (B) void ab initio, (C) valid but unenforceable, or (D) valid since payment was made?"

STUDENT (VOICE)

"B, void ab initio. The passage says a minor is not competent to contract under Section 11, so any agreement with a minor has no legal effect from the start."

AI FOLLOW-UP (VOICE)

"Correct. Now, Priya has already paid ₹50,000 and used the laptop. Based on the principle in the passage, can Ravi keep the money?"

STUDENT (VOICE)

"No — since the agreement is void ab initio, there was never a valid contract. Ravi would need to return the money because he can't retain benefits under a void agreement."

Why Voice Examination for CLAT?

CLAT gives you a passage, a legal principle, and a fact pattern. Then it asks: do you actually understand what you just read?MCQs let you guess. Voice examination doesn't. You have to articulate the principle, apply it, and defend your reasoning.

The students who can explain their answer are the ones who understood the passage. VOXAM measures that.

Apply
Map the legal principle to the fact pattern
Reason
Articulate why one answer is correct
Defend
Handle follow-ups that twist the facts
